CMA to fight snow and ice

ICE & DUST-AWAY is used to prevent and combat ice and snow on roads, paths and walkways. ICE & DUST-AWAY is not aggressive towards metal and does not cause harm to animals and plants.

ICE & DUST-AWAY is therefore very suitable for areas where livestock are present, as it does not dry out the animals’ footpads. It is also suitable for green areas where you do not want harmful salts to seep into the groundwater, which is the case if you use regular road salt.

Application

CMA ICE & Dust-AWAY is liquid and ready to use upon delivery. It does not need to be diluted. CMA is stable to handling and storage.

When it has snowed – Sweep the snow away before use! ICE & DUST-AWAY can be spread on smaller areas with a weed sprayer/garden sprayer that you can get at all hardware stores. When spraying, avoid aerosols, which are small liquid droplets that can be inhaled.

On larger areas, a tank with a spreading boom or disc spreader is used. See www.kyndestoft.dk / www.hardi.dk / www.epoke.dk.

Dosage

Dosage of de-icing agents depends on many different factors.

Here are some factors that influence the required dosage:

It matters whether the surface is stone, gravel, asphalt, concrete or something else. When the surface is smooth and firm, a smaller amount is usually required to work, as the applied amount does not drain away.

The wind speed together with the temperature has a major influence on how much the coating is cooled down and thus how much needs to be dosed.

The traffic in the area removes/moves some of the applied deicing agent. The more and faster the traffic, the more must be dosed.

The amount of precipitation that falls after the deicing agent has been applied and the temperature also have a major influence on the effect that can be achieved.

Which product should I choose?

We have developed different variations of CMA , each designed for effective performance at different temperature conditions.

CMA ICE & DUST-AWAY: Freezing point -14 °C

CMA ICE & DUST-AWAY + 25: Freezing point is -19 °C

CMA ICE & DUST-AWAY + 50: Freezing point is -23 °C

CMA ICE & DUST-AWAY + 75: Freezing point is -31.5 °C

Dust Binding CMA

If ICE & DUST-AWAY is used as a dust binder, the dosage depends very much on the substrate. On hard substrates, cover the surface. On porous substrates (e.g. loose gravel or riding arenas), the entire loose layer must be moistened so that no dry material comes out when walking or driving on it. If the loose layer is too thick for the entire layer to be moistened, satisfactory dust binding results will not be achieved. The amount varies from 10 g/m2 on hard roads to 300-400 g/m2 on loose material. At high dosages, it must be spread in several passes (e.g. 100 g/m2 per pass).

ICE & DUST-AWAY contains calcium and magnesium, which can absorb water from the air. Although the product can dry out during the day, it can absorb new moisture at night, thereby retaining the dust again. The product is soluble in water and washes away in the rain.
